We will be in CT for the weekend and need to get to Venice on Sunday, July 19. Is there a FAST train without many stops between CT and Venice? I researched a little and seems it's a 6 - 8 hour trip? Thanks!
No fast train available. Plan on about 6 hours at best.
It is one of those "you can't get there from here" scenarios. There just is no good direct trains and even the best routes include multiple changes.
The answer is yes/no and not really a 6-8 hour trip. There is a Eurostar fast train on part of the run but you have to take a slower train from the CT to get to it. It stops at every stop. The fastest run of the day is the 7:52am train out of La Spezia Centrale. There is one train change in Bologna to a Eurostar. 5hrs-35min. You can catch this train in Monterosso at 7:35am. You arrive in Venice at 13:10.
If you must be in Venice earlier, you can catch the 5:19am train from Monterosso to Milan and then move quickly to the 8:35am fast train to Venice. You get there at 10:55am.
