Stupid question, but does the night train from Munich to Venice travel through Austria or Switzerland? I need to figure out which 3 country pass to purchase. Thanks!!!

Yes, the Munich-Venice night train goes through Austria.
You might be better off simply buying a point-to-point ticket. If you book well in advance (up to 90 days allowed) at www.bahn.de, you can get a Europa-Spezial Italien fare of €69 for a bunk in a 6-person couchette and €79 for a bunk in a 4-person couchette. With a pass, you'll still have to pay a supplement for whatever kind of sleeping accommodations you choose.
