Rome to Sorrento via bus

I am about to book a room in Sorrento but have conflicting info on the bus from Rome to Sorrento. Does the bus run on the weekends? Any other suggestions would be welcome.

According to this page, the Marozzi bus leaves from the Tiburtina train station at 07:00 and 15:00 on Saturdays and at 07:00 on Sundays.

For more frequent service, take a Trenitalia train from Rome to Naples and a Circumvesuviana train from there to Sorrento.

In Sorrento we are staying at the Hotel Minerva. Its our first time to Italy but it looked nice on the website and was recommended by Rick Steves. A little more than what we were wanting to spend (160 euro per night for two nights) but I felt the views would be worth it.

The Curreri bus company also has a service from Rome to Sorrento. It also leaves from Tiburtina station.

Venere is a good site with a range of accomodation. You do not pay Venere when you book rather the hotel at the end of your stay. They will hold your credit card number against a no show. An established and reliable company widely used by visitors to Italy. Their prices are usually competitive and sometimes cheaper than booking direct with the hotel concerned!

Donna, try the Hotel Mignon Mueble. It is only a short walk from the train station, very clean and reasonably priced. No sea view, but several of the rooms open out to a patio which is surrounded by lemon groves; the aromas are wonderful. www.sorrentohotelmignom.com

BTW, the train is a much better way to get from Rome to Sorrento than the bus.

Donna,

Another Hotel you might consider is this one. It's only a short walk from the main part of town, and somewhat of "basic" but very comfortable and the owners are wonderful. It's next door to another Hotel (La Tonnarella) which has a nice restaurant (incredible views of the harbour at night).

Happy travels!
