Has anyone been to St. Petersburg Russia? I need to find out the best way to get from the airport to downtown. How about a hotel recommendation? I am taking a Viking River Cruise and also need to find out how to get from downtown St Petersburg to the Port. Has anyone used ATM machine in Russia?

From the airport to your hotel, don't use the taxis waiting outside the terminal. Prices are controlled by the local mafia and they will charge you over 100 euros. You can get around this by hiring a private car in advance, for less than half the cost. I used this company: http://tinyurl.com/ccmk6m From downtown to the port your hotel can arrange a regular taxi which will charge you a fair price. On Nevski Prospect (towards the Hermitage) there is a large Citibank branch with multiple ATMs.

ATMs in Russia are the same as any other country... other than the fact they dispense rubles. They're not quite as common as in the rest of Europe, but you shouldn't have trouble finding one.
