Anybody rent from Europe by car? If so, what were your experiences?

We rented a car in Milan and in Spezia. We had good experiences in both places....with Hertz. We rented from here and picked up at the airport in MIlan (Linate) and in the city in Spezia...Neither were a problem. Driving onthe autostrada was great, just like the interstate here. Signs were easy to follow. We did plot our routes on Michelin (great site). Returning the cars in Venice and Rome not a problem; we were able to followthe airplane symbols to the drop off. Have a good time; it's agreat experience!!!

I have used Avis alot in Italy and autoeurope in Brtain, France and Portugal in 2006. Check these 2 for the best rates for your rental.request a manual trans and the rates will be subst lower.
