Flights from Athens to Cairo

My husband and I are traveling to Greece in April 2009 and would like to purchase flights to Cairo when we arrive in Athens. When I was watching Rick Steve's Greece video, it mentioned I could book cheap flights to Cairo at or around Syntagma square. Has anyone done this? Would you recommend purchasing cheap tickets to Cairo when I arrive in Athens or spend more $ and purchase them ahead of time before I leave? Also, could we arrive in Cairo without room reservations ahead of time and find a place to sleep for a few nights?

I suggest you buy your tickets in Athens as soon as you arrive in case you need to make reservations in advance.

You should have no problem finding a room in Cairo.
I suggest you inspect your room there before you rent it instead of renting in advance.
