Plane to train

We will fly into FCO and take a train to Florence. Or will we? Does the train go through the airport, as in AMS, or do we have to make our way into Rome, then get the train there? Also, we've traveled by railpass, but not without. Any special tips (we're old and don't want to stand if the train is full). Thanks to all of you!

Take the Leonardo Express train from FCO to Roma Termini. Trains run every 30 minutes and the travel time is 35 minutes. Take a high-speed EuroStar Italia train from Termini to Firenze (Florence). Buy your ticket for Roma-Firenze at the airport when you buy your ticket for the Leonardo Express. You will NOT have to stand. Seat reservations are required on EuroStar Italia trains and they are included in the price of the ticket. The ticket machines have an English option and accept North American credit cards.

Are you visiting Rome for a few days and then going on to Florence? If not why not fly into Florence itself? Need more details here on the board to help you. There is a train station at FCO with good connections into the city. Doubt you'd have to stand. There are reserved seats for the elderly and handicapped.
