From Budapest to Amsterdam! Any information, point to point tickets or Rail Pass. Would there be any change of trains, is trip long-enough to warrant a sleeper! Any idea of the price of a ticket. Thanks, Bill
Bill,
Try using this websites interactive railpass finder feature:
http://www.raileurope.com/us/rail/passes/pass_finder/index.htm
In my opinion, you will save most with a railpass.
If you post a little more information about your trip, others will be more willing to help you. For example, how many days will you be in Budapest and in Amsterdam? Are those the only two cities you want to visit?
(After all, on the journey you'll be crossing the Austrian and German border)
Oh and you must've accidentally posted twice. Try deleting that second one.
Best,
Amber
Once you've got your itinerary hammered out, you should also plug in your dates and route into this website: bahn.de (german rail site that is more comprehensive than raileurope) just make sure to choose "english" before you get started on your search.
Also, your header emphasizes "senior" train travel. If you want to travel in comfort, go for the first class pass (although on the trains you'll be taking...this doesn't make much difference) Or just go second-class and spend your money on a nice, secure sleeper compartment for the night train you ought to take.
