BritRail Passes

There are so many passes to choose from!

Would a rail pass be the best option? And, is it best to buy in advance or after arriving (Eurostar).

My plans are below (1 person (nonstudent), 2nd class ):
October:
Land at LHR
Go to Bath (on bus)
Bath to London (train?)
London to Paris and back (Eurostar) - for a Rick Steves tour! : - )
London to LHR (underground, I assume...)

Thanks very much!

You need to research on the web the cost of point2point tickets vs the cost of a rail pass. You have to use the pass a lot of days to make it practical.

I usually find the pass more expensive and dont buy it.

A railpass would definitely not be worthwhile for this trip. A Britrail pass would only cover the Bath-London trip. You can find prices and schedules, and book tickets for that at nationalexpresseastcoast.com . There are some very inexpensive advance booking prices available. London to Paris on the Eurostar can be booked at eurostar.com . The sooner you book on either site, the cheaper the tickets, but be aware of the refund or schedule change conditions. As for London-LHR, you can take the underground, the Heathrow Express, or a "local" train.
