My travel agent got my friend and I an 8-day consequetive Britrail pass. If we use it during off-peak times and take the train out of zone 1, can we take advantage of the 2 for 1 vouchers? The vouchers only work for the trains, not the tube, correct?
I appreciate your timely answers,Jane.
According to the FAQs at www.daysoutguide.co.uk, a Britrail pass does NOT qualify for the National Rail 2for1 offers. What you need is a National Rail paper travelcard which can only be bought at mainline train stations, not Tube stations. However, the travelcard will be good for the Tube, Docklands Light Railway, and National Rail trains within the zones covered--plus the entire London city bus system. The 2for1 vouchers printable at www.daysoutguide.co.uk provide discount admission to various sights, but they do not cover transportation.
