We will be arriving in Nice around 11pm. I am in the process of trying to find a reasonable double room in a hotel/hostel that is very close to the train station. Will most places have a desk that is open at this time for check in? The problem I am having is finding places w/ an email so I can ensure my late arrival is ok. Any suggestions?

Check the Nice hotel listings at www.eurocheapo.com. There are several that are close to the train station. If you find one that appeals to you, do a Google search to see if the hotel has a Web site. If it does, the site will probably show an e-mail address. The eurocheapo site has a "more information" link for each hotel that shows phone and fax numbers.
