Dubrovnik to Split

Planning a trip to Croatia in early Sept. Does anyone know the best way to get from Dubrovnik to Split without a car? And approximately, how long does it take? Also, we would like to get to the Plitvice Lakes Park. I cannot find any day excursion from either Split or Dubrovnik.
Thanks
Ashley

Dubrovnik to Split--bus is about 4 hours or you could take the ferry. There are day excursions to Plitvice, but it makes for a long day. We rented a car for a day or two in order to take in Plitvice--much cheaper than an excursion, even with accommodation.

Try searching this site (Dubrovnik Split) for previous information exchanged on this topic.

Hi Ashley,
My husband and I toured Croatia by car last May. I was nervous abou this at first, but it was really great in the end. We landed in Db. and traveled up the coast via rental car, and car ferries, stopping to take it all in as we went. We drove inland to Pl. Park then on to Zagreb where we left the car upon arrival, and used public transit from there. If you're not utilizing a car out of fear, I can reccommend it as a lovely time, safe, and easy enough to do. We did have a car accident outside of Zagreb in a horrible roundabout. No major damage, our Visa insurance coverage took care of it, inspite of the rental companies urge to take on additional insurance. Hope this helps in some way.

In summer 2006, I took the bus from Dubrovnik to Split. The times were listed on the website http://www.libertasdubrovnik.com/ (and now it's even in English!), and they were the same as when I got there. Then after two days in Split, I took the bus (website http://www.ak-split.hr/) to Plitvice (which is an awesome place!). The buses were comfortable and cheap. The ticket sellers at the bus stations deal with enough English speakers that you should have no problem. Enjoy!
