Overnight train

If you have read any of my posts you will find that we are totally confused about whether to fly or take a train (overnight) from Rome to Munich. I have so many questions and I know you can't answer them all.

If we take an overnight train in a sleeper for three people can we lock the door to keep our backpacks safe?

How will we know when we reach our stop and be ready to get off? (6:30 am)

Munich is the end of the line for the Rome-Munich night train. Take a travel alarm clock with you.

The doors on couchettes and sleepers lock from the inside.
