Hi, I would like to know the easiest way to travel from Amsterdam to Normandy. We will be going to Holland next year and are starting to plan things now.
Thank you for your help....Cora
"Easiest" is relative, but I would take the train to Lille, rent a car, and drive the rest of the way.
If you will be taking a guided tour of the D-Day beaches and won't need to drive anywhere else in Normandy, then I agree with Richard. Take a Thalys train from Amsterdam Centraal to Gare du Nord in Paris. Depending upon your departure time, you will either be able to take a direct train from Gare Saint-Lazare to Bayeux (with a stop in Caen) or a train to Caen and another train from there to Bayeux. Book ASAP (up to 90 days allowed) at thalys. com to get a discount fare for Amsterdam-Paris. Book ASAP (up to three months allowed) at tgv-europe.com to get a discount fare for Paris to either Caen or Bayeux. Remove the check mark from the "Direct trains only" box. Choose France as your ticket collection country.
