Is a 1hr and 45min layover long enough in Amsterdam? We will be flying from US to Amsterdam to Scotland.

Yes, it it enough time. Schiphol airport is very big but it is easy to get around in. Just follow the signs. There will be a security check at the loading gate. Be sure to ask if you need help. We have gone from U.S. to Schiphol to Glasgow and back a number of times and haven't missed a flight. You can do it.
