I will be traveling in Germany this summer and traveling a great deal by train. Are there storage lockers large enough to store your luggage for the day while you sight see in most cities?

Most big cities have lockers in the station. Medium size cities, maybe, maybe not. Station services for major stations are here: http://www.bahnhof.de/?lang=en

For Bavaria, the website of Bayerische Eisenbahngesellschaft has information and layout for all of the stations (Bahn and S-Bahn) in Bavaria. Find the station name in the box in the lower left and click on "anziegen". The list at the top will show if they have lockers (Schließfächer) and the map will show you where in the station (symbol suitcase in box).
