Amsterdam to Berlin

Hello travelers, What is the best way to get from Amsterdam to Berlin? By train, about how long does that take? I'm struggling navigating all of the different countries' train websites. For this leg of our journey, would I book the tickets with bahn.com or with the Netherlands train website (www.ns.nl correct?). Also, we are staying in a hostel in downtown Berlin. Which of it's train stations should we travel to? Thanks for your help!!

Its about 6 hours. You can buy your ticket at Deutsche Bahn in advance if you want.

Kelly, One of the easiest trips will a direct (no changes) departure from Amsterdam Central at 09:02, arriving Berlin Hbf at 15:21 (time 6H:19M, reservations compulsory). There appear to be two trains departing at that time, so if you choose that departure be sure you board the correct train. Some of the other trains have one change. When you arrive at the impressive Berlin Hbf, you can get to the area of your hotel via the S-Bahn. If you pre-purchase the train ticket well in advance, significant savings are possible. You could also purchase your ticket at Amsterdam Central, but one point to note is that you would have to use cash as they ONLY accept "Chip & PIN" credit cards there. Happy travels!

Hi, Assuming you're doing this ride by day, instead of the CNL night train. I would suggest choosing the tramsfer point in Duisburg. From Duisburg-Berlin you can take the ICE direct. Duisburg isn't really worth seeing, did a day trip there in 1999, unless you want to see the largest inland harbor (Binnenhafen) in Germany and the specialised history museum. The city was plastered in the war, the 1960s' (unattractive) reconstruction style shows it.

The cheapest advance purchase discount fare for a direct ICE is €39.00. Book ASAP (up to 92 days allowed) on the German Rail site.
