Train from Vienna to Krakow

I'm trying to get from Vienna to Krakow and I have a few questions please.

  1. Is there only one train/company that travels that route?
  2. Is there a difference between RailEurope and OBB?
  3. Is RailEurope a train company or do they just sell tickets for all trains in Europe?
  4. What would be the cheapest option for buying my ticket?
  5. I'm planning on flying from Krakow to Prague, any issues with Czech Airlines?

Thanks in advance to anyone who responds, this is such a helpful forum!

RailEurope is a marketing consortium owned by several national rail companies in Europe. Its prices are inflated and its timetables are incomplete. OBB is Austrian national rail.

Your cheapest fare would be a SparSchiene ticket sold only by OBB. You have two choices: a direct afternoon train or a direct night train. See here: http://tinyurl.com/2u4kxj. Book by phone up to 90 days in advance, the sooner the better to have any chance of getting a SparSchiene ticket.
