1 Day Car Hire - Rollright Stones

I am looking at hiring a car just for the day so that a friend and I can go out to see the Rollright Stones. I am thinking about using easycar, but have heard some mixed reviews and was wondering if anyone here has had some experiences with them? I have read through a lot of the fine print and understand that I will need to pay about 10 pounds more because I am 24.

I would rather not drive from London, so I was thinking about catching the train from London to High Wycombe or Aylesbury and picking up the car from there.

I was also thiking about heading into Oxford after that before returning the car.

Does this seem possible?? I would appreciate any advice or help with this.

One final question - and I don't know if you can help me with this, but in Australia I am a "Provisional Driver" basically, I dont have my "Full Licence" yet, but on my Drivers Licence it says "Provisional Drivers Licence" will it still be counted as a Driving license??

Cheers

The UK requires a full driving license to be legal to rent a car, so you might have some trouble with a provisional license.

Picking up a car at High Wickham is much more sensible than London.

Oxford is about as car unfriendly as a city can be, parking is expensive everywhere and finding a parking space ( Oxpens Road is best ) can take up a lot of time if you're an out-of-towner.

No rental company that I know of would rent to a provisional licence holder.

If you can get over the licence problem ( get someone else to drive ? ) the whole thing is possible. You may find that you only spend a couple of hours in Oxford due to time restrictions, this is not really long enough, but it will give you a brief taste of the place.

Thank you for your help.

I emailed Easycar, and they wont hire to a Provisional Driver (we have strange licensing requirements in Australia)

However Thrifty is willing to let me hire a car, I just need to get an international drivers license (which I am eligible to obtain) and (even better) Thrifty is cheaper than Easycar!

Unfortunately, my friend can't drive, so I am the only driver :)

Maybe I should skip Oxford then??
