Wanting a report on Scandanavia tours.

How was it?
I hear they dress very conservatively - blacks and beige colors. Should I do the same?
Would a pink windbreaker look ridiculous?
Any laundry opportunities? I hate sink washing.
Physical requirements? Getting older and less agile....
Money/ credit card advise?
Going in Augest so how may layers to bring?
Best moment?
Things you wish you brought?
What not to miss?
Want to hear your tips.

Scandinavians are not conservative. Dress as you normally do.

We were in Denmark, Norway and Sweden in August 2019. It was an Odysseys Unlimited tour. We brought clothing anticipating cooler weather as did everyone else with us. We were there for 3 weeks. It was chilly and rainy for a day and a half in 3 weeks. The weather was mainly hot. People in Copenhagen were swimming in the water around the city. We went swimming in the pool at one of the hotels we stayed at on a fjord. I wish I had brought some capris with me. I was really glad we brought our bathing suits and grateful for the hotels with ac. Wear what you wear at home. Your pink windbreaker will be fine. Bring a combination of clothes for cooler and warmer weather. No one cares what you wear as long as you are clean and decent. We used our credit cards exclusively. We never used cash. Scandinavia is very expensive and I am sure even more so now. We walked quite a bit in the cities but nothing difficult. We weren’t hiking anywhere. I did sink washing but I am not going to do that anymore when I travel. If you are taking the overnight ferry from Copenhagen to Oslo and enjoy having an wine on occasion when you travel, buy some wine at the duty free shop on the ferry to take with you as alcohol is very pricey in Norway. The tax on alcohol in Norway supports the social system of that country. And don’t forget a wine bottle opener - TSA safe if doing carry on.

I agree to wear your usual clothing. We did this tour in August 2018, followed by Village Italy, so packed for warm (very warm) as well as cool. There was a heat wave in Scandinavia! (The Italy clothes came in handy). The drought ended while we were there so we did have rain in Copenhagen and Norway. The only cold weather was going from Oslo to Bergen—in the mountains and on the fjord ferry. I brought a down vest and light rain jacket which was sufficient. I usually bring a light sweater for evenings and bus travel and have used the vest on the plane for pillow or warmth.
