Voucher credit

I was reading in other threads that if you cancel a trip after the deadline (which now is a rolling 120day-prior to trip departure), that you forfeit your deposit. It sounds like RS gives you a voucher to apply that credit (in our case, a deposit of $800) to a future trip. However, it sounds like there is a 2-year expiration on that credit. Does anyone know if that is still the case, or if that has changed as well?

Only if your reason to cancel is for what they term a "Creditable Event". And they explicitly say

However, fear of infection or concern regarding prevalence of the virus in the tour location(s) will not be considered a Creditable Event.

We do have ‘cancel for any reason’ travel insurance. Yes I saw the part about creditable event. So many unknowns at this point.

IMO, If you are concerned about losing a large deposit, it's best to get cancel for any reason insurance.
Keep in mind that this insurance is costly and will usually not refund all your money. You might get 50 to 75 percent back depending upon the policy. You are also out the insurance premium.

It's up to each individual to figure out their own risk to reward ratio.
