After or before our 7 day Paris RS tour, I’d like to go to Vimy Ri dge. Has anyone done a day trip tour and how was it? Recommendations?
It's about an hour by train from Gare du Nord to Arras; then 12 kilometres/20 minutes or so by taxi to the Vimy Memorial. Any cab driver is familiar with this drive and may offer to pick you up for the return. The link below will show you the frequency of train service.
It is not too hard to do the excursion yourself in a day, and no doubt there are tours from Paris. However, Arras is a pleasant city with lots of history in both World Wars, so worth an overnight stay.
The extensive tunnels under Vimy Ridge, used as attack weapons during the campaign, are a striking experience. They close earlier than the grounds themselves so it's wise to get there mid-day if you can arrange it.

Thankyou for your suggestions
We just want to see Vimy , plan a couple of nights in Arras, and will go to Vimy by cab.
Are there headsets that we can rent at Vimy or tours to go on ? What is there at Vimy besides the monument?
