We fly into Venice Marco Polo Airport and then we need to get to Padova. Our thought is to take the bus (Busitalia), getting on the bus right at the airport and it takes us to the Bus Station in Padova. Takes approximately 1 hour.
If we take the train, we need to get on the Shuttle Bus, which takes us Venezia Mestre, where we have to transfer to the train which takes us to Padova. Between the shuttle bus and the train, this will also take approximately 1 hour.
Anyone from previous tours taken the bus? The train? Pros and cons of either?
Thanks.
I think if you are not planning to go to Venice, it makes more sense to take the bus. Otherwise, you make more work for yourself by dragging your luggage around.
I took the train to Padova, but I stayed in Venice a few nights near the train station before the tour started. I assume that the bus and train stations in Padova are probably near each other.
We've taken the bus, twice. You pick it up right outside the airport terminal, and it takes you to the bus station in Padova, which is indeed right next to the train station. And the tram stop that will take you downtown is very near, as well.
The only problem we had taking the bus, was finding the right bus bay. We remembered that the bus bay was right out the front door, and perhaps it was back in 2016. This year, we spent too much time waiting in the wrong bay, standing wreathed in people's cigarette smoke, before we wised up and looked for the right spot. As of late April of this year, the Padova bus was in Bay "I", to the left of the exit door.
This is a great tour; you'll have a wonderful time.
Bus it is. Thanks for confirmation.
