Village Italy free time question

Question for anyone who has been on the tour: On you free day in Lucca did you go to a Puccini evening performance at Church of San Giovanni? If so, did you pre-buy tickets or buy them at the door?
I have a list of free time sights I want to see but it looks like everything can be bought at the door or TI. Did you find you had to pre-book any museums?
Thanks for your help!

I took this tour in June 2022. Yes, I did go to the Puccini performance, along with at least half of my tourmates. Our guide suggested that we stop by and pre-buy tickets a couple of hours before the performance which is what I did.

Even though my Village tour was many years before Mary's, the guide suggested we stop by during the day and buy them. We loved the concert and most of the tour was there.

Thanks Mary and Laurie Beth! Exactly what I was looking for. Good to know I don’t have to buy tickets far in advance like I did for the Vienna Opera.

I was on the Village Italy tour in June of 2023 and booked a few activities in advance- a cooking class and market tour in Padua (I arrived two days ahead of the tour start date) and an ebike tour for the free day in the Cinque Terre. I also booked "Giotto Under the Stars"- an evening visit to The Scrovegni Chapel. The tour includes a visit to the chapel, but I knew I would want to see the amazing frescoes twice.

Enjoy your trip!

Sara, can you tell us the name of the cooking class and market tour you took in Padova?

Thanks Sara, I’ll look at the Giotto evening tour. I’m going to Venice for 5 days before the tour. I didn’t know the Historical Regatta is then so I’m excited to see it. Plus Venice is my favorite city. Third visit in five years.
