We are adding two nights in Venice to our trip as a pre-tour of our 13 Days in Southern Italy tour in September 2026. From there, we fly to Rome to start our tour.
We’d love some hotel recommendations for Venice.
Thank you so much!
You haven't given us much to go on, but have a look at these - each is different style, price etc.
https://www.hotelamerican.it/en/ (its very Venetian!)
We love Hotel Ai Mori D'Oriente, in the Cannaregio area, on the quiet back canals. There are no crowds, but lots of charm, restaurants, gelato , etc. It's a 15 minute walk from the train station, 10 minute walk to the vaporetto stop on the Grand Canal, and 5 minute walk from the Alilaguna stop. Enjoy!
No idea what you are looking for. A forum favorite is B&B Corte Campana.
I think you'll find flying to Rome takes the same mount of time as the train, door- door. And the train takes you inside of Rome, and is , IMHO, more relaxing. Safe travels!
Hotel Al Ponte Mocenigo
Try something unique - a convent ! Istituto San Giuseppe is conveniently located between Rialto and San Marco. Quiet, inexpensive. My wife and I have stayed twice. No need to be Roman Catholic or any type of Christian. We booked the first time thru monasterystays.com and directly the second time.
From there, we fly to Rome to start our tour.
While you didn't ask a question about this, but did choose to mention it, I believe if you look at the train you will find it easier and quicker than a flight.
I have stayed at the Pensione Accademica, which is in the RS Italy Guidebook, it is lovely and in the Dorsoduro area, close to the Accademia Bridge and Museum.
I am going back in October of this year, but I chose a hotel that is closer to the train station. Hotel Principe is about a 10-minute walk from the Piazzale Roma, where the bus from the airport takes you.
Another vote for Hotel Al Ponte Mocenigo. It's in a quiet neighborhood and has a lovely terrace for a drink at the end of a busy afternoon.
