Vegan restaurants on Best of Adriatic Tour

We are going on the Best of Adriatic Tour. Do you have recommendations on Vegan restaurants along the way? We check on Happy Cows site, but it is a hit and miss. RS tour guides are helpful and knowledgeable on everything, but Vegan restaurants are a bit iffy. Thank you for your help.

The tour was wonderful like all other RS tours. This was our 6th one. However, from Vegan food point of view, this was the worst. We found one Vegan restaurant in Ljubljana and Split. Neither was too good. All other places, my poor husband struggled to find foods to eat. Even those restaurants RS group chose were not adequate, only the lettuce salad or sometimes nothing. At Stolac, the local restaurant prepared some Vegan options, but it was the buffet, so other tour members ate up whatever the small Vegan options. One RS staff from Corporate was in the group and she was a vegetarian. Even she had a difficult time finding proper foods. We ended up visiting local supermarkets a lot, and my husband ate a lot of beans, fresh vegetables and fruits. In Dubrovnik we finally found a good Indian restaurant and ate there a couple times. Tour guide we had was probably the best we had in all of RS tours, but he was not any help on suggesting or arranging Vegan options.

Sorry to give you discouraging news. But my advice is to bring some freeze dry foods/snacks of your own to supplement. For the buffet meals, make sure you are the first in line to grab whatever you can eat. Don't be shy. Pile up your plates quickly, before the fellow hungry tour mates eat up Vegan foods.

They do have fairly good fish dinners in that region, so if you are not super strict Vegan, you may eat some delicious sardines, etc.

Good luck to you. You will still have a good time on this trip. We sure did and enjoyed it very much, though my husband was hungry.

We are actually quite disappointed with the RS tours on Vegan options. They can do much better. Our vegetarian tour mate (RS Tour staff) was not too pleased herself, and she was submitting her review to the corporate. Her job was to observe and monitor the tour, so she had a lot to say about the Vegan/Vegetarian options. Hope they will listen to her feedback to improve on the Vegan meals in 2026.

Enjoy the tour. You will have a very educational and fun tour. We are doing another RS tour to Greece in March. Hope the food will be better - a lot of Olives, Greek salad w/o Feta cheese. From the Vegan foods wise, Sicily tour was great. Our tour guide had a Vegan daughter, and he was a foodie, so he knew many excellent restaurants. He made sure my husband had plenty to eat at every meal. Portugal group dinners did not provide many options (sometimes French fries & salad), but most of the cities had excellent Vegan restaurants. Farm visits offered really good vegan meals, too. Basque tour was surprisingly good, this was again due to the caring tour guide. There were 2 vegans, so he made sure goof vegan options were always provided.

I won’t have a vegan problem but will be on this tour in October. I’m glad to hear it’s a great tour.
