Tour alum discount question

Hi:
Wondering about how the tour alum discount would be applied in this case: Soon I want to book a RS trip for next year so I get a good choice of dates, but my RS trip for this year doesn't leave for another two months. If I book for 2018 now, I wouldn't think I'd get the $50 tour alum discount on the invoice since it would arrive before this year's trip. If I wait until after this year's trip, I may not get the dates I want for next year. Anyone have any experience with this?

Save time and call the tour office and ask. They will be glad to help.

Hi Sue,
I have experience with this. Go ahead and book your trip for 2018 as the tour alum discount does not actually get applied until the final invoice which will be next year. You only pay your $400 deposit now and indicate on your application the trips you have taken, even the one you are about to embark on and they take it into account.

Yes, I agree with Judy. Book your trip, the RS office has your records of what tours you took and when. I have taken 14 tours and there is no longer enough room to list them all. I always call the office but they know what tours I have taken and they take the correct discount without me having to worry about that. As Judy said, they take the discount on the final payment.

Sue, I would call the tour office and ask them your specific question. I recently signed up for the Scotland tour the end of September, 2018 and they didn't ask for any previous tours to be listed. I noticed several changes in the sign up procedure for the new tours, all making it an easier process. May be other changes to the final invoice, too. Truthfully, I didn't check to see if they credited me my alumni discount on my confirmation.

I just signed up yesterday for the 10/15 Tour of Turkey in 2018 and I am leaving Sept 2nd for my Heart of Ireland tour. The online form is new this year and does not ask you to list your previous tours. The RS office has that on file and your alum discount will be applied, as well as the $100 early booking discount, when you make your final payment.

By the time of your final payment, you will have completed your trips for 2017 and that will count toward the alumni discount.
