I will be traveling on the BOE 14 trip starting on May 23. It mentions that swimsuits can be brought and used on this particular trip.
Where might that be? We don't go to the Cinque de Terre so not sure where we might be swimming. Anybody know? Not sure I want to pack it for a just because....
Day 3: Vatican Museums and Timeless Tuscany
This morning we'll focus on Renaissance (Catholic) Rome at the sprawling Vatican Museums. With your smartphone in hand and the Rick Steves Audio Europe™ app, Rick's voice will personally guide you through a limitless collection of treasures to one of the world's most famous works of art: Michelangelo's Sistine Chapel. After free time for lunch, we'll wind our way through the verdant Tuscan hills to a working family farm that also serves as our country hotel. You'll have free time this afternoon to take a scenic stroll amid the peaceful vines and olive groves, relax by the pool or taste some of our host's family-made wines. Before we sit down to a hearty country-style dinner together, we'll see how it's made, as our chef gives us a special Tuscan cooking demonstration.
And if you are not watchful of where you are walking, they could be useful in Venice :-)
We took that tour in 2019 and there was a nice pool at the agritourismo we stayed at outside of Florence. Some people swam and others just relaxed next to the pool. Not mandatory to swim. It was billed as “a vacation from your vacation”. I believe that was the only pool we encountered. If you’re not that into swimming, no big deal. But a swimsuit doesn’t take up too much space in the suitcase:)
We are going on the BOE14 day in early May. We're not planning on packing a bathing suit as this isn't a beach vacation for us.
On many of the many RS tours where we’ve taken a chance to swim (this from a non-swimmer in general) it turned out to be a great break from walking, churches, museums and a terrific time to socialize. We found two kinds of people-those who packed a bathing suit and those who wished they had!
A swimsuit is a murphy's law packing item for me. If I don't pack it I will want it!
We found the swimsuits useful during our stop in Tuscany. The pool at the farm was very nice. Of course, depending on the group, they may be optional.
I pack really light- but I go nowhere without a swimsuit - if for nothing else to be the one thing I've got left to wear when everthing else is in the laundry
Thank you for your responses! Now that I know there is an actual pool, I will certainly pack one. I agree that a little downtime at a pool can break up all the museums and touring.
