St. Jean Pied de Port before starting Basque Tour

I'm flying into Biarritz on a Thursday and beginning the Basque Tour on a Friday. I'm think of spending Thursday night in St. Jean PDP before heading to Bayonne on Friday afternoon.

Has anyone done this and can comment on whether it's worth the extra travel. It appears to be a fairly easy train connection.

The tour spends a few hours in St. Jean but I thought I would spend more time if its a sufficiently interesting place due to its origin of the 500 mile Frances Camino.

I spent a week in St. Jean Pied de Port a couple of years ago, and loved it. I think it's worth spending a little extra time there.

St. jean PP is a very touristy town and not worth the time! Heading out to Bayonne tomorrow. If you do stay overnight (which I don't suggest) DonaMaria is the perfect Inn though.

I did spent a night in St. Jean PDP before my Basque Country. I loved it. Great places to walk, good restaurants, and lots of nervous looking pilgrims.

I did the Basque tour the first year it was offered. The few hour stop was more than enough for me.
