I'm trying to research my time on Amalfi Coast in September, but I don't know what hotels my RS tour will have us staying in until later this summer. Can someone help me know what city we will be in besides Sorrento so I can plan to visit the other neighboring towns? Grazie!
Getting around in Sorrento and the AC is cumbersome, frustrating, and time-consuming due to the poor infrastructure. Traffic congestion is legendary, and public transportation has been sadly neglected. So keep in mind the realities on the ground. September will still be very crowded, as there's so shoulder season in the area anymore.
You could call the RS office to attempt to answer your questions.

I'm also going in Sept, but not on the RS tour. The last time I went to Sorrento area was also in Sept. Yes, I guess it was still pretty crowded, but the weather was pleasant if a little hot. But as for getting around, we took private transfers to places that didn't have an easy connection via public transportation. (Renting a car wasn't an option for me, and probably would have cost as much for car rental, gas, and parking as just hiring a driver who knows their way around.) On my upcoming trip, I chose a home base in Massa Lubrense near the marina which appears to provide easy access to Sorrento, Capri, and the AC. Going by water rather than by road might be easier AND more scenic. I hope it works out that way!
When we did this tour last year, for the Amalfi days we were in Minori. I thought it was an excellent location, because it is not crowded and has great ferry service that allowed us to go to Positano for a day trip.
My tour last year stayed in Maiori, next to Minori, and I agree with Kathleen's assessment of that area.
Thanks for your help!
There are two excellent scrapbooks posted for this tour from 2024:

On our RS Southern Italy tour a couple of years ago we stayed in Maiori. We walked the Path of Lemons to Minori and took the ferries to Amalfi (extremely crowded but great limoncello shop) and then back to a very pleasant, quiet, Maiori.
On the tour I took in 2023, we stayed at Hotel San Francesco in Maiori. Most tour members walked the Path of Lemons and then took the ferry to towns on the Amalfi coast.
