Some examples reserving extra nights at tour hotels

Just had a really good experience reserving an extra night at the Athens hotel Hera for the March 26 tour. Contacted them late yesterday and received an answer this morning. They made it very easy, and included a secure link to reserve, a first for me.

After 13 tours, I've had some experience with this, and while this one was particularly easy/fast, I've mostly had positive interactions with tour hotels.

My most annoying experience was last year's Hotel Dikker & Thijs in Amsterdam. Repeatedly told to check back later, first months, then weeks. In the end (after many months) they said to use the regular online method. I could have done that at the beginning. By then I had decided I didn't need to stay in the city that last night and reserved at the airport.

I reserved a room in Padua for the night before the Villages of Italy tour starts, and it was very easy. I used the link that the RS office provided in the tour details documentation. They responded quickly and took my CC information, and assured me that I would have the same room and not need to move for the 2 nights of the tour.

I have reserved extra nights at both the Hotel Al Ponte Mocenigo in Venice and the Hotel Quirinale in Rome through email and it was super easy. Both hotels were very responsive.

We have an extra night at Hera for before and after our tour next month. They seem up to speed in response, secure link, etc. Looking forward to it!

I've been told by staff at tour hotels (first and last) that they are very familiar with working with RS tours, and know that some guests will want extra nights. So they hold some for a while. Sometimes they block out a few from their regular booking site, so always worth e-mailing direct.
