My sister & I are on this trip and the tour ends the morning of 9/10. We were interested in a day-trip to Montenegro on this day and wanted to see if anyone else on our trip might be interested in going as well. Thinking of hiring a private driver & sharing the cost instead of taking the bus. Any interest? Thanks, Leslie
My husband and I took this trip last year and loved it. We booked a day trip to Montenegro through the tour hotel in Dubrovnik. We were in an 8 passenger van with a driver and 5 other passengers. We went to Perast and on a boat out to the Lady of the Rocks (sadly this didn’t allow for time in the town of Perast), on to Kotor, then to Budva for a late lunch and a wander through the old town.
The driver picks you up at the hotel between 7 and 7:30 in the morning and returns you to the hotel before dinnner time. Can’t remember the cost, but it was reasonable.
If you haven’t booked your flight yet, I would encourage you to add some extra days to the beginning in Ljubljana. We loved having time to just wander or enjoy a drink or a cake in a cafe along the river. Great people-watching, too.
Thank you for the recommendations I was just looking for an activity for a extra day we have in Dubrovnik we are on the Ricks tour starting in Ljubljana june 3
My mother and I are doing this tour beginning June 17. We arrive in Ljubljana on June 15 and have seen a couple of suggestions of activities that will not be included on the tour. Anyone have any additional favorites they have done?
Also would love any guidance on the weather/packing. I have checked out average temp info here, but would love to hear from someone who traveled on this tour at about the same time.
I was on the Adriatic Tour in the fall of 2016, stayed an extra day at the tour hotel in Dubrovnik, and took day tour to Montenegro, sounds like the same tour as Karen and her husband took, although I seem to remember being in a bus, not a van. Maybe that depends on how many people have signed up on a given day. It was a nice tour, although coastal Montenegro did not seem very different from Croatia. The guide was a young Argentine immigrant to Croatia, and I asked him if he noted any major differences between Croatia and Montenegro, and his comment was that the drivers in Montenegro were more crazy. In Kotor we had enough time to climb at least part of the Great Wall of Kotor, up to the church which is about mid-way. It was nice and manageable, but don't do what I did, and fall off the wall. I survived in pretty good shape, and thankfully was able to continue on without interruption. Didn't even start to hurt until I was in Istanbul, and then back home in California!
