I'm so disappointed. I thought this was going to be a topic about your six weeks in (name your favorite country, or two) and I wanted to here about it.

Please. No more misleading subject lines.

I can't take it.

:-)

Also, I leave for Spain exactly one month from YESTERDAY!

Yippee for all of us lucky enough to travel!

Sorry, Becky. :-(

It won't be a six-week trip, but I'll try to pull a report together after we return.

I'm going on the Heart of Italy Tour this year. Can't wait! Volterra is on the list! After the tour ends I will take a train to Venice for 5 nights. Aren't we all lucky to be able to travel?

23 days til I leave for a week + in Paris followed by a Road Scholar tour of Brittany and Normandy.

And yes, I would totally take a Rick Steves tour of this area if it included the Alignments at Carnac.

Safe travels to everyone!
Business may take me to Germany in late September/early October. My wife may also have a business trip to London. We're trying to combine the two, with some vacation time before and after. We've got a bad case of the wanderlust. We finish paying our mortgage in August and might have to splurge by spending two months worth of payments we will no longer be making.

60 days until our 16 nights in Belgium, Germany and a hop west into Alsace! I'm sure NONE of us have the countdown marked on the calendar. :)

I'm jealous of those who are actually spending six weeks or more abroad. Someday!

DougMac, congratulations. There is no feeling quite like having your mortgage paid off. And it's not just the extra cash, it's the feeling of security; no matter what happens, you will always have a place to live.

@ Tim...Due family factors the trip's itinerary had to be changed but now I have four extra days, two of which I am spending in the Middle Rhine area, including Kaub am Rhein and maybe, Bacharach (depending on the time), the sites where the Prussians led by Blücher crossed the Rhine to invade France and strike at Napoleon. They lost to Napoleon at their first encounter, The Blücher Museum is in Kaub, the plaque (Gedenkstein) is in Bacharach.

35 for me, then 3 weeks in Portugal, 3 weeks in Greece, with RS Tours the heart of my time in each country. Just scheduled my introductory "food tours" in Lisbon and Athens! Can't wait.

It's 150 days for me! London, Normandy, then RS week in Paris, and RS Eastern France. I'm reading my RS France book for the second time and doing research online. Mostly I'm just living through all the scrapbooks of The 2016 tours. My short trip to look at wild flowers in Texas didn't help my jealousy of all you folks headed to Europe. Bon Voyage, y'all!

It's 148 days for me before I go on the RS Heart of Ireland tour in 8 days and then spend a week in London.
But, lucky for me, I just returned from the RS 7 Days in Rome tour and then spent the weekend when the tour ended in Naples and toured Pompeii on Sunday. I flew home Tues, the day before these terrible storms that blew through the South. And, are now headed up the East Coast. I am still jet lagged :) but small price to pay for great memories.

Yes, I agree we are all fortunate that we can travel.

Judy B - Let me know how you like your Heart of Ireland tour. I am going next year 2018. I have already been on the 14 day Ireland (without husband), so next year going with Husband on the 8 day Heart of Ireland.

I had Rozanne Springer for y 14 day. She told me she sometimes does the 8 day. You love her, but I think all of RS Ireland tours guide are wonderful. I met them at the last January Reunion weekend.

Have fun

Patty-

Hope you enjoy the Sicily tour. We were on that tour last April, and it was the best of all our RS tours. We also spent time in Rome before continuing on to Sicily.

Tour ends in Frankfurt and we go on our own to Munich, Vienna, and Budapest! Yay! For all of you RS travelers who are so informative and encouraging! This is our 10th European trip. Most have been self-guided and given us wonderful memories! Keep on travel'n! Thanks RS travelers and RS books too!

Just love the enthusiasm from all those posting! We're staying in the US this year having just returned from a road trip to New Orleans and along the Gulf Coast. The States have so much to offer! We are lucky to be able to experience its diverse cultures and sights. But we also love meeting people from across the globe and are looking forward to our third RS tour in spring of 2018! Travel is so rewarding and brings us all closer together. Thanks so much to RS, his guidebooks, and this forum of seasoned travelers for sharing their experiences, offering advice, and giving travelers the confidence to step out of their comfort zone and make wonderful memories!

Two weeks from tomorrow, leave for London and a cruise around the British Isles. While everyone and his dog has been to Ireland, I haven't, so port calls in Cork and Dublin should be interesting.

Two weeks for us, to Paris and the Loire!

I'm with you stoutfella - I've been planning for at least 6 months and we're finally in the home stretch! I always feel so rushed in the last week, but once I'm at the airport, it's all good!
