The Best of Sicily tour looks fabulous, but we also want to visit Sorrento and/or the Amalfi Coast. Is it possible to add on a RS tour guide for Sorrento and the Amalfi Coast for an additional 2-3 days? We'd rather the logistics not get too cumbersome, and we do not want to drive ourselves along the Amalfi Coast. Any recommendations? We are also considering the Smithsonian Southern Italy and Sicily tour, but we love the indepth charm of RS tours. We welcome any advice.
That Smithsonian tour itinerary is closer to the RS Southern Italy tour than the Sicily tour.

I've done both of those RS tours, and I suspect it would be much easier to add a few days in Sicily to the SI tour than what you are proposing.
BTW, Rick Steves tours doesn't offer extensions, you would have to do that yourself.
There’s a number of people that do the RS Best of Southern Italy (which includes Sorrento, the Amalfi Coast) and then hop onto the Best of Sicily tour. Unfortunately, RS doesn’t customize tours.
I have taken both RS tours to Sicily and Southern Italy, and they were both amazing, so would recommend both. Doing them back to back would not only be tiring since they are each very busy, but would require about a month of time, which for some, is hard to be away that long.
At the end of the Sicily tour in Catania, you could fly from the airport there to Naples. I think Easy Jet and Ryan Air have direct flights, but not ITA. From Naples airport, you would need to go to the port, and from there take a ferry to where you'd like to stay on the Amalfi Coast. It takes takes about 45 minutes to cross from Naples over to Sorrento.
Call the Tick Steve’s office to find out about combining the tours mentioned above in the posts,
Thanks for these great suggestions! I do think being away from home (our dog really) would be too long if we did back-to-back trips. Plus it sounds a bit exhausting. We'll look into making our way to someplace on the Amalfi coast via plane, ferry, etc. for a few days - or just stick to Sicily this trip, and then start to plan our next adventure!
