Sicily tour - Agrigento hotel

For anyone who has been on the Sicily tour, how close was your countryside hotel to either the museum or Valley of the Temples? Thanks!

If you mean walkable from the hotel, my answer is no, the Valley of the Temples is not a reasonable walk from the hotel. Yes, you can see the temples from the hotel grounds, but walking would take a long time ... a lot of down from the hotel to the valley, then up to where the temples are located. When we took the RS tour of Sicily (which was great, by the way) the bus transported us to where we met the local tour guide.

Thanks Will. Good to know you can see it. I'm looking forward to seeing it at night lit up, even if slightly further away.

When I was on the RS Sicily Tour several years ago, from the hotel way up on a hill, you could see the Valley of the Temples way off in the distance, especially at night when illuminated. I don’t know if this is a standard part of the tour or not, but our group was loaded up on the bus after dinner, and took a ride to pass very close to the illuminated temples. I don’t think we got out of the bus during that ride. We then actually visited the temples the next morning, with a local guide, before leaving the Agrigento area.

That evening temple bus ride sounds awesome. That would have been cool to do on our April Sicily tour this year. Hope they reinstate it!

We traveled to Sicily on our own and stayed at a hotel that could be considered walkable, Colleverde Park Hotel, away from the main city center up the hill which was rather undesirable.
