Scandanavia Tour questions

My Scandanavia tour begins one week from today. Time to get serious about sightseeing plans in free time.

I will have part of Friday (after I arrive from West Coast), all day Saturday and Sunday until 4:00 for free time.

The tour visits City Hall on the way out of town on Tuesday; does the City Hall visit include time to climb the tower or should I plan to do that on my own?

Eric,

I would do it on your own, especially if you want to linger. That morning is a little hectic, what with loading the bus and getting on the road on time.

Have a great time! I just finished that tour and it was wonderful.

A staffer here also concurred that climbing the tower takes more time than you would have with the group visit, so you would want to plan it for your free time.

There is also a lift that takes you part way up if you choose. The visits are timed and they only allow a certain number of people up in each timeslot, so that is probably why the group visit doesn't include the tower.

I'm back from the Scandanavia tour and my free time before the tour was spent as follows:

  1. Friday (arrive Stockholm early afternoon). Check into hotel and visit Skansen. I probably should have opted for a HOHO bus orientation instead since I didn't enjoy Skansen as much as I thouight I would due to jet lag.

  2. Saturday - 8 hour canal cruise to Sandhamm. Very scenic.

  3. Sunday - visit the City Hall Tower, explore downtown, and visit Millesgarden (sculpture park). The latter is underrated. It takes a short subway ride and short bus ride to get there, but it's well worth it.

I would also recommend visiting the Monteliusvagen as the sun is going down for some great pictures.
