We just booked the Best of Poland tour for August 2026. The itinerary does not appear to include a visit to the Salt Mine outside of Krakow. I believe the mine has been included previously. For those who recently have done the tour, was the Salt Mine included? Thanks!

I took this tour in May 2024 and the Salt Mine was NOT included. I don't believe it ever was included in the tour. Many people stay in Krakow a couple of days after the tour ends to tour the Salt Mine and Auschwitz.

When I took the Best of Eastern Europe tour in October 2022, the Wieliczka Salt Mine was not included. However, I saw the mine anyway because our guide gave us a free afternoon and opted to see it.
In 2015, I traveled independently through Poland and two other countries and went to the mine then, too. The mine is well worth it.
If you want the adventure of getting to the salt mine via public transportation, I followed the directions to the public bus in Rick's guidebook, and it got me there. On the way back, I took the "busiki", the low-cost public transport vans. They are smaller, often privately operated, buses or minibuses. It was fun.
