RS Tour reviews…where are they?

I’ve booked the RS Berlin Prague, and Vienna tour for next September. As with previous RS tours that I’ve taken, I always look at the reviews specific to the tours. I want to hear the perspectives from those that have been there. It helps me preplan some of my free time activities, and to become more engaged with my destination.

It’s been almost 3 months since someone has completed a review. I remember a few years ago RS outsourced the process of gathering and publishing the reviews. Are people not reviewing the tour because they didn’t like it? If that’s the case, maybe I should consider taking a different tour. I’m not looking for insincere comments. I want to know the wow moments so I can get excited about my upcoming experience. I also want the not so nice reviews so that I can either adjust my expectations or figure out how to make lemonade out of lemons (or sour grapes).

Is it unrealistic to expect updates on reviews of, perhaps a month ago?

I was looking for a reviews of the Best of Eastern Europe tour and haven't seen any posted since June 25th. It could be that the staff is just overwhelmed right now.

For both of those tours, it appears they stop at the end of June and start up again in mid August. So that’s why there are no reviews past June. Also, many times not all the reviews are published. When you write a review, you can chose whether or not it will be online. You could start a post asking those who have been on the tour what they liked and/or disliked. I’m sure you’ll get some responses.

Thanks, Barbara. I checked on next year’s dates, and sure enough there are no tours from mid June to mid August. I will try your suggestion of starting another thread and asking for reviews from previous tour members.

Jill, your tour gets some of the summer off as well, as does the Prague and Budapest tour. Interestingly, the more popular tours…see everything Italy, continue throughout the summer. So hot weather is not the deciding factor. RS knows their audience, so I trust there are reasons for “summers off” for some tours.

Susie, I did the B,P&V tour in June, plus a couple weeks on my own. Here’s my trip report if you’re interested. For just the tour, you’ll need to scroll down 4 or 5 posts. The first part of the trip report includes my independent days in Berlin and Vienna and beyond. It’s a very good tour but I found it quite intense because of countries’ 20th century history.

My husband and I did this tour in September but more than a few years ago. We loved the whole tour. We arrived several days early and fell in love with Berlin.
The tour was great. Our tour guide knew her music and the bus rides were a celebration of German, Czech and Austrian music and history. The three large cities were wonderful and the smaller stops interesting and lovely. I’m not sure what my “wow” moment was but I certainly remember the walking tours in Berlin and Prague and the beauty of Vienna and the Danube Valley
After the tour we took the train to Hallstatt (overnight) then Salzburg (easy). As it was during Oktoberfest, we stopped in Munich for a couple hours on our way to the Mosel then back to Frankfort for the flight home. Train travel from Salzburg to Frankfort was easy and allowed for the stop in Munich. Southern Germany in late September/early October was beautiful.

Horsewoofie, I had read your trip report when you first wrote it, and we had a few PMs. The information you gave was just what I needed. Your tips at the end were greatly appreciated.

Patti, I’m glad you enjoyed the tour. Thank you for filling in some blanks, and letting me know about your travels outside of the tour. I am really looking forward to being in places with such rich history.

I was thinking the same thing. I’m headed to Scotland in a little less than a week, and I always like seeing what people enjoyed the most. Nothings been posted since June and they have tours all summer long.

I went on the GAS tour late August to mid-September of this year and never received the post tour survey. Neither did my spouse. Our excellent tour guide Andrea mentioned that we would get one to provide the company with feedback.
