RS Sicily Tour: Warm clothes just for Mt. Etna?

Can anyone tell me if I need to bring extra layers for the day we visit Mt. Etna?

Just my own experience....I was there the end of Feb. 2013 and only wore the light weight jacket I had brought on the trip. I did have on a long sleeved shirt and a scarf. I would recommend layers. It was a beautiful day for us. Like all weather though, comes with no guarantees! Have fun! It's a wonderful tour.

Depends on when you are going. I was there in September one year and it was short sleeves all the way.

Thank you both. We will be there in June. In a couple of weeks! So excited.

Stacy, it will probably be warm enough for t-shirts but bring a light sweater or jacket just in case.

I was on this tour last year in June. The weather was warm and pleasant but a bit windy. I would take a light cardigan sweater.

Stacy,

I was there in mid-September and the weather was warm so no need for layers. Our group didn't go all the way to the top of Etna, but just to the base area where the chair lift begins. I would recommend packing some type of rain gear though, as we experienced a storm of biblical proportions in Taormina which arrived very quickly and without warning.

Buon Viaggio!

Be sure to come back and tell us all about the tour. I've been thinking about that one for a while. Have fun!

Stacy, we were there last June and it was cold, windy, and even snowing. Just nasty. Really. Even layered up most of us couldn't wait to get back to the bus. Bad luck, it appears, but have at least an extra sweater or windbreaker, just in case. Or maybe just layer on on the t-shirts, with a windbreaker on top? It's a great tour, though. Buon viaggio!

OK, I'm back from the tour. Our Mt. Etna visit was really only in the foothills, at a winery. It was lovely, but not much elevation, so it was still quite warm (in mid June). I don't why I imagined we'd go higher; maybe because Rick ventured higher on one of his shows.
It was a lovely trip! I'll try and post a longer trip report soon.

Stacy,
Glad to hear you had a great trip!! Please do post a report. This was a tour I really was interested in, for this year. But, I talked myself in the Southern Italy instead. I still want to go on Sicily tour, maybe next year!!
