RS Greece tour May 8-21. Anniversary falls on night in Hydra.

I posted this in Greece but didn’t get any suggestions so I thought I’d give it another shot. We’ll be in Hydra on our 52nd. We aren’t plush restaurant people and doubt Hydra is that sort of place anyway but maybe a step up from a gyro? 😉
I’m sure our tour guide, Ionna, will have recommendations as well. Thanks

I don’t know if you are Beach people, but, I would consider enjoying some of the day at one of the beach ‘clubs’ outside of the main town. As I remember on our walk with our guide there were several nice places to enjoy the beach. I was wishing I had brought a swimsuit on that walk! Of course, I’m not sure if they are ‘in season’ in May but you can Google ‘beaches on Hydra Island’. Just a thought,it could be quite memorable………..Congratulations!

Thanks mmaryallen, I appreciate the suggestion. Sitting outside watching the beach would be great. I don’t even swim in Texas in May so I won’t be ready to sticking more than a toe in this trip.

We went on this tour in 2018 and ate at a really nice place along the water. Techne Restaurant. It was a lovely setting, not fancy but really nice and good food. We sat outside under a tree with a beautiful water view. I highly recommend it!

Do a search on Trip Advisor. Yes, I know you have to take their ratings with a grain of salt but you can get a good feeling for a restaurant. If I remember correctly, the restaurant recommended above, Techne Restaurant, was highly rated.

Highly recommend Psaropoula restaurant! It's tucked away in a corner of Hydra overlooking the port. They have a lovely terrace with great sunset views. It's in the RS Greece guidebook. I ate there last year on my RS Greece tour. I submitted a scrapbook for the contest this year, if you want to have a look at pictures of the meal (it was on day 11)! You should reserve ahead for a special occasion so you can get a table with a view.

Wow Anna, I loved your scrapbook! I thought I had seen all the Greece scrapbooks but I missed yours. It was excellent, you take great photos. And the restaurant does look terrific, thanks.

We did the tour in 2019 and the last night in Hydra we ate at a rooftop restaurant that had a wonderful view of the harbor. I found my photos and from the location map, I think it was called Veranda Restaurant. I believe it was listed in the RS guidebook. You had to climb up very narrow stairs to get there, but OH MY, the food and the view were magical and certainly worthy of an anniversary meal.

Thanks kynfs, unfortunately our tour ended in Delphi because my husband tested positive for Covid. Very sad. So our 52nd anniversary ended up being takeout BBQ back home in Texas. NOT what we had in mind! But we are already signed up for next spring and will try it again, so I will keep your recommendation in mind. It sounds great.
