Hi Rob and Norma! So nice to meet some fellow tour-mates! I'm not retired yet. I'm a 49 year old full time college student, so I'm not sure what that makes me, lol! Have you been to Europe before?
If you've not been to Amsterdam before, I highly recommend you look at viator.com at their day tours. There is a windmills tour that takes you to Zaanse Shans to sample Dutch cheese and visit lot of pretty windmills. Then you take a boat to Volendam for lunch and then you go to Marken to see wooden shoes get made. It's a half day tour, but they also have an all day tour that also takes you to Delft to visit the Delft pottery factory, the Hague and Madurodam. Since our tour will visit Keukenhof and not the open air museum with windmills, this might be something for you to look into. I plan to visit the Dutch Resistance Museum on the Wednesday I arrive. I'm also hoping to visit the Church in the Attic. On Thursday evening I plan to see the play ANNE at the Amsterdam Theater. On Friday I plan to take a day trip to Bruges, Belgium. On Saturday I'll relocate to our hotel in Haarlem. I want to visit the Corrie Ten Boom house and St. Bavos and maybe even attend church there on Sunday.
As to Paris, after our tour ends (Saturday after breakfast) I'll be relocating to the Hotel Sublim Eiffel. I'll then be taking a special tour of Versailles that includes Marie Antoinettes Petit Trianon. It's a little pricey because it's a small guided tour and goes to places not usually seen in the regular tour. On Sunday a friend will be joining me and in the morning we're going to the Catacombs- very excited about that! We hope to see the Rodin Museum in the afternoon. On Monday (when the museums are closed) we're going to Pere Lachaise Cemetery. Many notables are buried there (Jim Morrison probably the most famous), but the tombs are supposed to be spectacular and include several ww2 memorials. I think it'll be Montmartre in the afternoon.
I also hope to squeeze in a trip to the top of the Eiffel before the RS tours ends (as it's not included). If you guys want any more information on any of those things, let me know and I'll send you the links. Of course if you want to join me for any of it, I'd love to have company! Just let me know! ;-)
I've met one other gal on our tour, a recent college graduate from Montana. She'll be taking the tour with her mother and sister. I've exchanged a few e-mails with her and friended each other on Facebook. She seems really nice, as do her mom and sis.
Great to meet you and hope to chat with you more!
