Rome Cruise Port to Rome 5/24

Looking to see if there are any other tour participants that are arriving via cruise boat 5/24 that would like to share a ride to Rome.

Thanks,
Keith

Keith, I am not arriving in 5/24. It might be useful to let people know if this is a port stop on a cruise or if you will be disembarking.

post your question there along with others on ship to see if there are people willing to share ride. several years ago we would post and it was first come first serve even with small tours at other ports. know that the civitavecchia port is at least an hour+ to town, how long are you in port to make sure you are back to ship in time for sail-off
cruisemapper.com
tracks the ships in the ports, may have 3-6 ships with thousands wanting same as you, how early you can get off ship. we booked a private taxi to town and back. good luck

This is our disembarkation port. It is this point we a joining/starting a Rick Steve's tour. If there are others (maybe arriving same ship (or other) there are 7 in port that day. We may go train, but would consider a ride share to our hotel destination.

Are you aware that there will be 6 cruise ships docked in Civitavecchia that day, with a port load of around 17,000 pax. In other words, the port will be extremely busy and congested, and the odds of meeting another tour member disembarking from a different ship are somewhere between slim and none. The suggestion of checking out the Cruise Critic Roll Call for your specific sailing is a good one, and your best bet for arranging a shared ride into Rome. You can also check their Ports of Call forum for info on different modes of DIY transfers into Rome.

hey hey keith
another option that may help you out. wherever you embark on ship, you can ask others onboard if they want to share a ride to city center, email taxi company ahead of time at one of your ports to reserve with how many people.
you may not that many cruisers on this forum. i sure wouldn'y want to try to get on a ntrain with the 17,000 others trying to save a buck, not woth it, the stress, the grumpies/obnoxious one around. open up you wallet and get into rome.
we've been there and done that, i'm too old to deal with it. never what will happen, train strike, overcrowded train, push & shove with luggage, no seat.
bad memory for friend and i, protesters near piazza navona, roads blocked, cops everywhere, no shuttles allowed. it was horrible. we were so lucky to find a taxi outside area to take us to cruise ship 140E later, we ate rice & beans later
keep address of hotel so taxi will drop you off right in front of hotel (can you check in early since check in 2-4pm)

You should post this on the Cruise Critic forums under your specific cruise and date. I would suggest that you disembark the ship as fast as possible, grab the shuttle bus to the train station and head to Rome as fast as practical. Get to your hotel and relax.

With that many ships in port, I wouldn’t wait. There probably are enough cars in Rome that will be bringing people out for the next cruise, but why tempt fate? Book it for four now. You will find someone on Cruise Critic. Worst case scenario, it costs $100 for a civilized, super-easy transfer in a clean car with an English speaking driver. We use Rome Cabs. Public taxis are available, but I priced them a couple months ago and they were only about $10 less. If you’re paying for a cruise and an RS tour, $100 won’t break the bank, and you’ll get off on the right foot for the tour.

Agree with Wanderlust58. We've taken the train from the port to Rome a couple of times, but there isn't anyway in the world we would try it with that many ships in port. We've used RomeCabs a number of times and have always been pleased. It is a private car service and not a regular taxi company despite the name. Highly suggest you consider reserving them now.

If they can't accommodate you, don't hesitate to ask for a referral to another company.
