Village Italy vs. GAS

'Village Italy' tour seems to be well liked by many who'd done it; now I'm quite motivated to take this tour in 2027. Another tour besides Village Italy that I'm also considering is GAS (Best of Germany, Austria & Switzerland).

I'd done 'Best of Italy' before and noticed that the itinerary of these two tours (Village Italy & BOI) shared many places in common:
Assisi, Orvieto (Umbria), Siena, Cinque Terre (Italian Riviera) ... we also stopped at Luca during BOI.

So I'm questioning if it makes sense for me to take Village Italy; should I take GAS instead? Any comments or feedback are much appreciated!

We’ve done Best of Italy, Village Italy and Best of Germany, Austria and Switzerland. I’m confused what River Italy tour is? Although the BOI and Village overlap in a couple of places, the tours still felt different because the activities are not exactly the same. We did not go to Lucca on our BOI tour and we did not stay in one of the CT’s villages on the Village Italy tour but in Levanto. I really didn’t mind visiting Orvieto, Siena or Assisi again, but by all means, if you want a tour that does not repeat any place you’ve been previously then do the GAS tour, it’s a wonderful tour, too.

@Margie: Haha that was definitely a mistake; it should be ‘Village Italy’ and I’ve fixed it. It’s reassuring to hear it from someone like you who’s done both tours. I probably will end up doing both tours and just have to prioritize which one to take first. Thanks!

I’ve done both Village Italy, & Best of Italy, & will be repeating Village Italy this coming fall, I loved it so much!

I've done both tours. The GAS tour was the first I did - way back in 2009. The itinerary has changed a bit and I really want to redo it. I did the Village Italy one in May this year. It also was very good.
I'd go for the GAS tour since it would be something different for you.

@margie, @Susie & @LizLynnwood:

I likely will do the GAS tour first before Village Italy tour. I did my BOI in 2019; so it would be good to wait a bit longer before returning to some of those places in Village Italy itinerary that're also covered by BOI. Thanks you all for your comment; have a happy holiday season and a great new year!

I just finished the Villages of Italy tour in late October into early November of this year, 2025. It was such a great tour, I can't compare it to the GAS tour, but I can highly recommend the VOI tour.
