Return Airport for Best of Spain tour?

My wife and I are on the Spain in 14 day tour next October. For those who have been on this tour which city did you use for your return to the US? The tour ends in Sevilla but flight connections back to the West Coast may require multiple stops. Is Madrid the best option or is a return to Barcelona a good option?

How does one get from Sevilla to Madrid or Barcelona?

Thanks

I haven't done that tour, nor flown from Sevilla, but flights within Europe are plentiful and inexpensive. You should choose the "best" transatlantic flight (best being very subjective and might be cheapest, fastest, most comfortable, fewest stops, air mile availability, etc.) over and back, not necessarily to/from the same city. From the Bay Area, I imagine there are loads of daily direct flights to many cities in Europe. Double check the connections to Spain before booking. Unless you're using miles, it's very early to book a flight, but you can use something like Google Flights to set a fare notification.

We flew from Seville to Lisbon and then non-stop to EWR. Very easy. Others on our tour took the train back to Madrid and flew home from there.
Both easy options.
You will have to research which option gives you the best options back to the west coast.

We took the train back to Madrid and spent a night before flying back to USA(Charlotte, a non stop). When I looked into flying from Sevilla, it looked painful. If at all possible I try to book return to States in Charlotte. Customs is a breeze and best of all, we're home.

We take the train to Madrid and fly home from there when we’re in Sevilla. That or Malaga are the closest Delta team option

TAP, Iberia, Lufthansa & Swiss all offer 1 stop service from Seville to SFO

Travel times range from 16 to 37 hrs.

Some 2 stop options involve less travel time than some of the one stop options

How does one get from Sevilla to Madrid or Barcelona?

If I were to do it, I would use train for Madrid, but fly to Barcelona.

Hello Mark,

I fly home from Sevilla every year to Seattle and have found the best option for me is to take an afternoon flight from Sevilla to Paris or Amsterdam, stay in an airport hotel and fly home on the direct Delta flight the next morning.

It really depends on where you are flying to. If there is a direct flight from your home airport to Barcelona or Madrid, then you can fly from Sevilla to either of those cities and fly home from there, or in the case of Madrid, take the high-speed train from Sevila, which runs at least hourly and takes 2.5-3 hours. Depending on flight times, you might need to spend the night somewhere. I use www.skyscanner.com for finding flight options and www.thetrainline.com for train schedules and tickets in Spain.

Hope that helps!

After our Best of Spain tour, we took the Train from Sevilla to Cordoba, spent two nights ( one full day) there to see Mezquita and Cordoba, and then took the train to Madrid, and flew out of Madrid with a stopover in Paris and then to SFO.
Whether its the best for you depends on where your headed and what airline you like to fly.
We chose the Delta/Air France flight because it only had one stop.

We would fly Air France from Seville to Paris and then Air France/Delta to Detroit.
