We will be on the GAS tour beginning June 13. I checked with tour hotel and they have no availability for June 12 when we are arriving. Has anyone any recommendations of another hotel we could stay for that one night. We are flying into Frankfurt so I guess we could stay there? Thanks in advance! Meg

meg. when we did GAS, we flew in to Frankfurt, and then took the train to Bacharach, staying there overnight. Then on to Trier. It worked out well as we like Bacharach and it was on the way to Trier. You could stay in St Goar, Oberwesel or other towns on the Rhine too.

In Trier, the area around Porta-Nigra-Platz has quite a few hotel choices, including the three that are in Rick's Germany book. It's a short walk from the train station and then 10- or 15-minute walk from there to the tour hotel.

We took the train to St Goar and stayed on the Rhine River. It was wonderful and the train leaves from there to Koblenz. Change trains and head to Trier. I would be happy to share hotel information in St. Goar if interested.
