Pre-Booking a Hotel in Ennis for 2027?

I've noticed that many people recommend staying at the Old Ground Hotel in Ennis as a pre-tour hotel for the Heart of Ireland tour. I've also read that mid April seems to be when 2027 tour dates will be posted. It seems logical to wait until the tour dates are posted then book the Old Ground Hotel for the day before. However, will everyone else be doing the same and, if I wait, do I risk not getting a room? Just wondering if I should take an estimated guess on the 2027 tour dates (based on this year's schedule) and pre-book the hotel so I'm not boxed out by 24 other tour members. Can someone please advise me on this? Thank you.

I would wait until you have the tour booked and know the dates.

It looks to be a pretty large hotel. So, I don’t think you have to worry about the hotel being fully booked one year in advance.

We stayed there on a RS 7 day tour. Very nice hotel, "Poet's Corner" pub inside was very nice also. It was a pretty large hotel. Just a short walk from the train/bus station. Say hi to Ogham, the hotel cat, for us.

Wait for your specific tour dates - they do adjust them every year and you don't want to box yourself in to dates that aren't compatible with your actual tour. Also, you might find out the tour hotel is agreeable - if that's the case then I'd book it as soon as you are confirmed by RS office. FWIW I have only booked the tour hotel once out of five tours, usually I can find something else more to my taste and budget.

It is a very nice large hotel. But thinking of our favorite hotels, it isn’t at the top.
