Can anyone tell me what hotel you stayed in at the start of the 15 Day Central Europe Tour? I know they change but would like to get an idea of location. Thx Larry
We took this tour in 2023 and stayed at the K+K Hotel central Prague. It was located just outside the Powder Gate.
Also the Leon d'Oro has been or is being used.
I dont think that asking about the past is a reliable indication of the future. I hear from time to time where they stay when they are here in Budapest and its been all over town and from mid-size to corporate.
In May 2024, our Prague hotel was Hotel Metamorphis.
many years ago (2012) my tour started at Hotel Royal Esprit. Not sure if they still use that property. Pre-tour I stayed at Central Hotel Prague which is right next door (and was less expensive). In any case, it is highly unlikely that the hotel will be very far outside the historic central area, that is not in line with the RS tour philosophy.
I do recommend going at least one day early, two is better. There isn't much tour time in Prague and there is so much to see.
I plan on going in 3 nights prior to the tour start
Larry, since you will be arriving 3 nights in advance, you might consider staying in a different part of Prague and then moving to the Old Quarter hotel for the tour. We did this long ago (2018) when we took this tour. We stayed in the Lesser Quarter and it was a completely different experience—it felt quieter and less touristy and gave us a better overview of the city. I don’t know if the B&B where we stayed—The Big Boot—is still operating, but we absolutely loved our hosts and experience there.
Another suggestion, which also may or may not still be running 8 years later, is to take Pavel Batel’s day tour to Terezin. Pavel is an amazing story teller and guide, and we felt so fortunate to have learned about the history and people of Theresienstadt from him.
This is a spectacular RS tour— I hope you enjoy it as much as we did!
Thx Ruth I am considering staying in a B&B them moving to the hotel. Once I book in April I’ll be able to make that decision. I’ll check out your suggestions also
The hotel that the tour is staying in for my Central Europe Tour this October is the KK Hotel. I'm also staying 3 nights prior in Prague. For those 3 nights, I'm staying at the Hotel Atlantic, which is close by, but cost about half the price, and is also locally owned rather than a 5 star international chain. It also has great reviews on Google and TripAdvisor.
Thx for the info I’ll check out both places
Pretty impressive actually. All those listed are pretty nice 4 star hotels in or right at the edge of the old town; except the K+K is a bit further out, but not bad. Way to go Rick.
One of my favorite hotels in all of my travels in Europe as in Prague, the Hotel Ventana https://www.ventana-hotel.net/
Our Berlin-Prague-Vienna tour stayed at the K+K Hotel central Prague in 2023. It was comfortable and had a large breakfast spread.
My Berlin Prague Vienna tour in 2015 stayed in the Hotel Metropolis, a very comfortable hotel. I loved that tour!
