Post-Spain and pre-Portugal: 3 days - what to see & travel options to Lisbon

Hello,
We are scheduled for Spain in 14 Days tour in late May (last stop Sevilla) followed by Heart of Portugal tour (starting in Lisbon) in June. We have three days in between tours and are exploring our options. Morocco looks intriguing, but the travel from there to Lisbon is a bit tricky. Has anyone done this, and was it a version of Planes, Trains and Automobiles that takes a full day of transit? Or are there other destinations you’d recommend near Sevilla for our between-tours time?
Thanks!

You can go from Sevilla to Merida to Lisbon by bus. Merida has some impressive Roman ruins and it's a pleasant, low-key town. Three nights would not necessarily be required, but you could stay an extra day in Sevilla and then two in Merida. Or, you could see what other day trips you could do from Merida. Caceres is an hour by train and its gorgeous. I'm a huge fan of this area.
Have you been to Madrid?

I would recommend Merida only if you are interested in the Roman ruins and the archeological museum. The city is otherwise not remarkable.

It’s a short flight to Gibraltar, where you can catch a 4 hour ferry ride to Tangier.

There are no nonstop flights from Sevilla to Gibraltar nor are there from Tangier to Lisbon. If I went to Morocco I would not go to Tangier.
I would take a direct (no transfers required) bus from Sevilla to Lagos, PT (4h 45m) and hang out in the Algarve. You can then take a direct bus from Lagos to Lisbon (3h 45m).
