Phone question for Ireland

I’m doing the 14 day Ireland trip in July and wonder about getting cell phone service. We pay very high roaming charges in Canada so I would prefer to use a local Irish provider for the two weeks. How will I do this?
Thanks

I'm Canadian too and we pay for an international plan through Koodo. It's an add-on with a daily flat rate, up to a maximum per billing cycle. It isn't cheap at about $15CAD per day, but it gives us peace of mind knowing it will work just like home. We've used it in the US, Ireland and the UK so far with no problems.

My phone provider is Bell - I usually pay a flat rate $60 for a month of international service, which I think is great!

Consider https://hippocketwifi.com/. Essentially it is a Wi-fi hotspot the size of a deck of playing cards. You link the phones of everyone in your party to it ( up to ten). You then turn off cellular data on your phone. From then on, each phone has complete use of calls, texting etc using the hippo device. I used it for the first time in December for my family and it worked perfectly in Austria, Hungary and Poland. Borders meant nothing. It works anywhere in Europe.

The cost was less than $10 per day. We were pleased. I am going to Ireland the end of next month and already ordered one to be delivered to my hotel in Dublin.
