Peggy Guggenheim Museum

We want to visit the Peggy Guggenheim Museum while on 4 day visit to Venice. Is it recommended to purchase tickets in advance? We are not looking for a tour, just a self guided visit. Thanks!!!

I see no reason to book in advance. Very nice collection of 20th century paintings, but not a huge tourist destination. Stop in when it is convenient and spend a couple hours. See the gravestones of Peggy's pet Yorkies.

I was there in June. I just walked up and bought my ticket. If you are a senior, regardless of country, you get a discount. Be sure to ask about that. I offered to show my ID, but I guess my gray hair and wrinkles were enough ID. The person who helped me was obviously American or Canadian, unless she was very good with a North American accent.

Note that the entrance is on a small canal in back, not from the Grand Canal. I like this basic link better than the one that offers advance booking. The linked one includes a map and vaporetto info.

We visited 2 years ago in late June around midday. Walked right up and purchased tickets. Don't purchase in advance. You will enjoy it! Spend some time on the grand canal! I wish we had lingered longer.

An under visited museum with a great collection and story. Enjoy it and don't tell too many people, it's small!

Peggy Guggenheim herself is some story, worthy of a full-blown Hollywood drama. She was unquestionably a central figure in 20th-Century art, but add in all that money, the Second World War, and the exotic love affairs, not to mention a family connection to the Titanic, and her history is big-screen with flashing lights. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peggy_Guggenheim

The cafe at this museum is a nice place for lunch. Enjoy your time in Venice!
